A short run on Sunday, a mistake at the second control and a beautiful autumn day.

About orienteering… A sport that can be discovered only by who has the curiosity to go in the middle of the forest with a map and a compass in his hand.
After about 10 years, I attended the Eger Cup again. Curiosity was raised by the fact that a part of the route will be underground, and I don’t regret that I decided to make the trip.
City stage was beautiful. Although the start was delayed by 30 minutes, when I began the route I even forgot bout it. I made no mistake, everything went perfectly, and the underground was extremely interesting.
The second stage started in a completely different way. I was really disappointed to get to start and see that the start was re-scheduled an hour before (I missed the start and I got a new minute). Thus, when I left, the forest was already empty … I made the route OK, and I mistaken only at control 6, which in my opinion, was not very well represented on the map. The area was physically demanding, which is reflected in the time made.
Overall, from my point of view, the competition was good, but moving the start with 1h BEFORE, in a manner that the notice didn’t reach everyone, will be a thing that I will remember for sure…

Sunday, 9/10/2011 Pro-Silva Cup was held in Zalau. The route was great, but unfortunately I made a major mistake at 3rd control when I took the route to 7th instead, without realize that, only when I wanted to punch and found that it is not the same number with the one I was looking. I had a small mistake at control 6, and to the 8th control I hit in the leg, which made me limp by the end of the route, and all week that followed. The contest was very nice, the route was great, and I hope to get to participate next year too.

After working hard all week, and I was a bit too tired to race, still I really wanted to finish my week with an orienteering competition. The decision I made was right, because the competition was great.
The map was new, beautiful forests, perfect for masters national championship. Although the area was not so demanding for the youngest, the first stage, I managed to make a mistake at 4th control by going to the left, and at controls 7 and 8 the chosen routes were not exactly the greatest. However, the second day I was more pleased with how I made route. Below are maps of the two stages:
